For many of us, religious education is a gradual process and part
of our life-long journey. Learning about God is the first
in a series of religious education workbooks for young students.
The aim of this text is to assist students in the development of
their understanding of God as being present in the world through
people, the world, the Church and the events of daily life. Learning
about God provides a gentle introduction to key religious language
and concepts in the context of religious education in the Catholic
school and parish.
Nine key themes are explored in Learning about God:
- I am special
- We are all different
- Me and my Church family
- Me and God
- God sent Jesus to be with us
- God created our beautiful world
- The Church year celebrates God
- Special signs tell us about God
- God is everywhere!
The content in this series takes as its starting point the Catholic
Catechism, is guided by the general principles from the General
Directory for Catechesis and shaped within the context of
Australian RE as expressed through Diocesan Guidelines.
